County game

Debi’s  High School season ended with the Lady Wildcats losing to the Garden City Trojans 4-0. However, this season was very successful for the Shoreham team, they won their 4th straight County Title defeating the number one ranked Sayville 6-2. In the County Final Debi scored a hat trick to lead her team to victory and earn the most goals and points out of Long Island. Her first goal was off a penalty stroke to give Shoreham a 1-0 lead. In the second half she scored two goals off of direct shots on penalty corners to put Shoreham in a 3-0 lead. Although they didn’t make it to the state tournament this year, Debi was awarded first team all-american honors as a junior. In addition, she received all-state honors for the third year, and was acknowledged on Newsday’s all-long island team for the second year in a row. Debi played for the Edge club team and won her third National Hockey Festival Championship in the U-16 division. She now begins to focus on indoor while continuing her outdoor training, workouts, school work, and sat prep. Below is a link for a Newdays article highlighting the county game.

The experience is one I will never forget and marks my first opportunity to represent the United States on the pitch. We played Bermuda, Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina to earn the bronze medal at the tournament.

As a 15 year old, becoming familiar with a new culture was an amazing experience and the ability to train at the top level was truly beneficial to me as a player. My next tour will continue with the U-17 team this upcoming spring.

Since my first year on varsity as a 7th grader, I have matured and grown as a player. Our team has continued to prove our abilities as we have won three straight County Championships.

My team goals for the year include winning a fourth County Championship, winning a second state Championship in Shoreham-Wading River history, and earning the Suffolk County Sportsmanship award. Hopefully we will be successful this fall.

It is important to me to grow as a person, a player, and a student. I started playing at the age of 5. My sister introduced me to sport, and I quickly became very dedicated to the sport at a young age.

I love the idea of team unity and the ability to continually progress your skills. I enjoy the possibilities and opportunities that field hockey enables me to experience like touring with the U.S. team this past spring.

My individual athletic goals include earning All-State honors for the third year, All-American honors, and continue to rise in the US pipeline. My academic goals include continuing Principal List Honors for all four quarters each year, earning subject awards, and mastering each AP course I take.

Every day I work to achieve these goals so someday I could work to make it on to the US National team and develop a very successful business career.
